Manufacturers seeking to boosts the sales appeal of their high-performance offerings all gravitate to the legendary Nurburgring in Germany to challenge the world’s toughest road course.  Benchmarks set here provide proof a vehicle’s performance posture against other marks seeking to be the top dog. The track combines twisting turns, elevation changes and lengthy high-speed straightaways to challenge car and driver to demonstrate their skill and performance credentials in real time.

Chevrolet released a new video today showing Camaro engineer Bill Wise relentlessly flogging a 2018 ZL1 Camaro to a 7:16.04 lap, which is faster than a ZR1 Corvette and most cars that cost more than double the $70,000 price tag. The Camaro 1LE equipped package incorporates Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R, DSSV spool valve shocks and increased downforce to complement the 650hp ZL1 engine.

These are serious bragging rights and they rank the Camaro right up there with some of the most capable performance cars in the world and particularly with those costing a good bit more for that performance capability. Check out the accompanying video and see if you don’t agree.
